The Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and Chief Executive (the Secretary of the DPMC) leads a department that plays a pivotal role in the coordination and integration of public service agencies’ support for the Government, including the delivery of its priorities.

The Secretary of the DPMC provides the Prime Minister with independent, accurate and timely advice on constitutional matters, domestic and international issues, security and intelligence matters, and matters the Prime Minister deems to have significance for the Government.

Alongside the heads of the other Central Agencies, the Secretary of the DPMC provides leadership and support across the Public Service to help other agencies deliver and implement the Government’s priorities effectively and efficiently.

The Secretary of the DPMC will need to have the ability to build strong relationships across the Public Service. They will need an understanding of, and ability to, effectively use levers available to drive delivery across the Public Service. They will be a solutions-focused leader with a proven track record of implementation and delivery.

We are looking for a leader who has experience in the following areas: system leadership, context management, sector experience and organisational leadership. More information on the key leadership dimensions of this role can be found in the position description.
