Cabinet minutes that approve mandates for functional leadership in property, procurement and ICT have been released today.

“Functional Leadership roles for these areas have been delegated to three chief executives to make decisions on property, procurement and ICT that affect all departments,” said the State Services Commissioner and Head of State Services, Iain Rennie.

Functional leadership responsibilities sit with specified roles and not with any individuals. Property is delegated to the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Social Development; Procurement to the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, and ICT – as the role of Government Chief Information Officer – to the Chief Executive of the Department of Internal Affairs.

“Collaboration on these areas has the potential to make significant savings on State sector spending,” said Mr Rennie.
