Te Manatū Taonga | Ministry for Culture and Heritage (the Ministry) works to enrich the lives of all New Zealanders by promoting a confident and connected culture.
The Ministry leads government work in the arts, heritage, broadcasting and sports sectors providing advice on policy, legislation and sector development to Ministers. It funds, monitors and works collaboratively with 15 agencies, including NZ On Air, Creative NZ, the Film Commission, Te Papa, Heritage NZ, the NZ Symphony Orchestra and Sport NZ.
The Secretary for Culture and Heritage leads the Ministry to provide strategic leadership across relevant sectors, maintain a strategic overview and articulate the value and benefits of culture for Aotearoa New Zealand. The Ministry’s footprint across the diverse and interdependent sector relies heavily on highly effective partnerships with agencies, local government, commercial and not-for-profit enterprises.
To achieve this, we are looking for a passionate and collaborative leader who must be experienced and excel at organisational leadership, system leadership, sector leadership and managing context. More information on these key areas can be found in the position description.
