Te Tari Hara Tāware | Serious Fraud Office (SFO) is the lead law enforcement agency responsible for addressing serious and complex financial crime in New Zealand. SFO protects New Zealand’s reputation for transparency, integrity, fair-mindedness, and low levels of corruption, and contributes to New Zealand’s economic security and prosperity by making it a safe place to invest and do business. SFO also works to prevent financial crime and corruption in New Zealand’s public sector by providing guidance and raising awareness.
Te Tumu Whakarae | the Director and Chief Executive leads the SFO to protect New Zealand’s financial and economic wellbeing by achieving the following outcomes:
- Financial crime and corruption is addressed through prevention, investigation, and prosecution;
- New Zealand’s international reputation in the fight against financial crime and corruption is maintained; and
- A high level of trust and confidence in New Zealand’s public institutions and financial system is maintained.
We are looking for a leader with experience and expertise in complex investigations and prosecutions, as well as organisational management, and preferably public sector experience, to lead the SFO as Director and Chief Executive.
This is an opportunity for a senior leader with strong credibility with the justice and financial services sectors. The leader will have experience and expertise in complex investigations and prosecutions, as well as organisational management experience, to lead the SFO as Director and Chief Executive. The Director and Chief Executive will work collaboratively with peers to increase the effectiveness of responses to serious and complex financial crime and corruption.
Excellent leadership by Public Service secretaries and chief executives is essential to high performing departments and a high performing Public Service.
