Innovation
In the 2025 Public Service Census, we found that innovation was supported at the team level, including learning from mistakes (76% agree), being encouraged to come up with new ways to do things (70%), and acting on customer feedback (67%). About half (51%) agreed that when suggestions to improve workplace efficiency or productivity are made, they are taken seriously and acted upon.
Use of technology
Most public servants (88%) feel confident in their ability to learn new digital skills. Less than half (42%) agree that their organisation takes advantage of technology to deliver better services/information to the public.
A third (33%) of participants had ever used AI (Artificial Intelligence) for work, and 14% use it regularly.
