An investigation into the behaviour and conduct of the Retirement Commissioner, led by Maria Dew QC.

The State Services Commissioner Peter Hughes initiated an investigation into the behaviour and conduct of Ms Diane Maxwell, the Retirement Commissioner, at the request of the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, the Hon. Mr Faafoi. The Commissioner appointed Maria Dew QC, to lead the investigation.

The objective of the review was to consider whether the allegations of bullying could be substantiated, whether the Retirement Commissioners fulfilled obligations to ensure “good and safe working conditions”, whether the agency has systems and policies in place to support the appropriate and efficient management and resolution of staff concerns or complaints, and any other matters giving rise to an allegation of inappropriate behaviour by the Retirement Commissioner.
