Our 2024/25 annual report has been tabled in the house by the Minister for the Public Service, Hon Judith Collins KC.
A resounding theme of our 2025 Annual Report is a commitment to building a unified, trusted, and high-performing Public Service that is future-focused, digitally enabled, fiscally responsible, and responsive to the needs of New Zealanders.
This year’s report highlights the Public Service’s efforts to align with Government priorities, improve fiscal sustainability, and lift system-wide capability. It showcases the second Te Taunaki Public Service Census, which provides insights into the motivations, skills, and diversity of public servants.
Another key milestone was the establishment of the Crown Response Office, which led the Government’s response to the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care. The Office coordinated a public apology, redress schemes, and a $774 million Budget package to strengthen the care system.
The Report also includes an update on the Public Service Fale, which continues to support Pacific public service leaders and has secured funding for a further 5 years.
